Fourth grade homework packets go home each Friday and are due by the following Friday. Packets include a math review of content covered that week (it's taken from the Bridges home connection workbook and aligns directly with the lessons taught that week), reading and writing that align with the focus of our current EL unit (ie. opinion, non-fiction, historical fiction), social studies/science that align with our current IB unit and a space reserved for marking how much reading they did over the week (up to 100 minutes, which is the goal).
We also differentiate for students by providing a modified amount of homework required to complete and/or modified assignments (ie. math review from an earlier unit vs. the current math unit for struggling math students). This is identified by either the parent or teacher (or both) as an accommodation for particular students with specific needs.
